ACM Europe & Dutch 4TU.NIRICT
Summer School on "Systems Meet AI"
Delft, The Netherlands July 06-10, 2026
General Information
The synergy between AI and networked computing systems is a critical frontier for innovation. This school focuses on the dual pillars of Systems for AI (optimizing hardware and networks to support AI workloads) and AI for Systems (using machine learning to improve system design and resource management).
Combining expert lectures, hands-on sessions, and a hackathon, the summer school will give participants both conceptual insights and practical experience in building more efficient, reliable, scalable, and deployable AI systems across domains such as edge intelligence, embedded AI, TinyML, healthcare, 6G, and industrial automation.
Thanks to the support from ACM Europe and the Dutch 4TU.NIRICT, participation in the summer school will be free of charge. Selected participants will receive free access to the full programme, including lectures, the hackathon, social events, banquet dinner, reception drinks, lunches, and coffee/tea breaks. Please note that accommodation and travel costs are not covered and should be arranged by participants themselves.
The summer school will also offer several additional opportunities for students:
A free 1-year ACM membership for all attending students;
A hackathon on “Tiny Machine Learning on Microcontrollers”, with prizes of €500, €300, and €200;
The opportunity to give a 1-minute pitch introducing your own research.
Travel-grant opportunities, including:
Four €250 travel grants for international PhD students from non-Dutch institutions;
Four €250 travel grants for undergraduate and Master’s students from any institution.
The number of seats is limited. Interested students and researchers are encouraged to register as soon as possible.
